The house is not empty at night
Night is when the difficult ones get difficult. A dog who copes with a quiet day can still spend the whole night pacing, and a cat on medication may need someone in the house at two in the morning. An overnight stay puts someone there. For dogs it means the evening feed, the last walk, the night in the house and the morning start all happen in the normal order, in the normal place. For owners heading to Reagan National or out of town for a long weekend, it is the difference between hoping and knowing.
